Inter Milan boss reveals persuasion for Perisic to survive
Inter Milan’s Piero Ausilio revealed how his team wooed Ivan Perisic to survive. It gave Perisic a new contract and convinced the Croatian player that La Beneamata had a good future.
Manchester United heavily pursued Perisic’s signature in the transfer market then. However, Inter Milan are not under pressure to release the player. Because, their financial condition has been stable for this season. In the end, La Beneamata managed to keep Perisic as well as extend his contract.
“Perisic still has a few years on his contract No one has denied a bid coming from Manchester United but we have tried to convince him to stay at Inter and that our project can be as successful as Manchester United,” Ausilio told Mediaset Premium.
With his new contract, Perisic gets a significant pay rise. If he originally paid 3 million euros per year, now his salary is 5 million per year. That means Perisic is paid more than Captain Mauro Icardi who receives 4.5 million euros a year.
“The new contract is a consequence and it feels right. There is no release clause because we did not intend to release it, nor was it requested by his representative,” Ausilio added.
Perisic has defended Inter Milan in five Serie A games this season. The 28-year-old has contributed three goals and three assists.
